With the support of DRAC-Ile de France, République et Canton de Genève, Ville de Genève – Department of Culture, Loterie Romande, Pro Helvetia – Swiss Arts Council, Société Suisse des Auteurs (SSA), Reso-Réseau Danse Suisse. The project was created during the residency programme “Danse à tous les étages” at Quartz (Brest) and Südpol (Luzern). Valli was awarded the second Premio award in 2009 for a first draft of the work.

Description

Myouto is a study for the dance piece Je ne vois pas la femme cachée dans la forêt.

Created in a modular way in its duration, this dance piece consists of several tableaux that expose the creative process by showcasing movement as a raw material, devoid of its theatrical envelope. The work highlights the development of choreographic writing, balanced between two values, narrative and abstract, the former relating to the eloquence of space and approach, and the latter to sensations. Myouto, which means “couple” in Japanese, picks up on the topic of identity roles based on a reflection attributed to Oscar Wilde, “Being a couple is being as one, but which one ?”
