Description

The second performance resulting from a meeting between writer Carla Demierre and choreographer Perrine Valli, Le Cousin lointain furthers the collaboration and experimental approach undertaken by the two artists. After La Cousine machine, they have chosen to base their research on the model of literary radio programmes, in which the voice is a central element, producing all sorts of mental visions. This project is based on the specific features of this medium, and it is an interview with a writer that initiates reflection on the construction of the male identity: Why has “fraternal dependency” towards the group developed so significantly with men while the concept of sorority has not developed as much for women ? On stage, Perrine Valli and dancer Rudi van der Merwe embody, in a series of images, the tangible and imaginary physical situations which the text gives rise to.
